Douglas Atkinson

Is currently working as Research Assistant on the Digital Sensoria project, investigating ways of representing the multisensory properties of textiles through new technologies and rich digital media. His particular research interest is in exploring the role of sound in our relationships and interactions with garments.
Having trained in fashion design his MA studies on London College of Fashion's Digital Fashion programme were funded by a scholarship from Harold Tillman, Director of The British Fashion Council. Douglas created garments and accessories using the Arduino physical computing system to alter sound based on the gestures of the wearer. In doing so creating a performance of everyday and forgotten movements.
He has previously worked for ethical designers Noki and Ada Zanditon and interned for several seasons with Alexander McQueen.
